Artificial water features can be defined as water play features, ornamental ponds, pools, fountains, cascades, artificial streams, and similar assets. With the exception of water play features, the assets are not interactive water features or water play parks that have been designed and constructed specifically for play.
Xyst sought feedback from a number of organisations and councils to understand their approach to public safety associated with artificial water features in reserves and public places.
The intent was to establish if any locally or nationally published rules or guidelines are readily available and if so, are they being utilised.
Xyst then considered options to either mitigate or remove risk associated with the asset portfolio.
